Just 3 New Metal Bands To Look Out For In 2011

Exciting new talent in the underground metal syndicate: Will 2011 be their year of triumph?

It’s the time of year when fans of exciting metal may find themselves tiring of repetitive sounds and predictable grooves, particularly those provided by radio, magazines, TV, and other such media.

As the new year begins, desperation to find a new heavy fix may be stronger than ever, and the result may not always be found in the obvious places. As a possible resolve to this problem, here are just 3 of the newest- not all of them signed- bands that could potentially dominate 2011.

Aliases

Filling the gap left by the tragic demise of Sikth, this new outfit, led by former Sikth guitarist ‘Pin’ may take listeners back to a more inventive design of technical and discordant metal, combining cunning jazz scales with pounding riffs, and somehow creating a highly memorable song in the process.

Their demo track, We Never Should Have Met, has whetted the appetites of idle listeners and Sikth fanatics alike throughout the latter half of 2010. And regular updates on their Facebook page indicate that their full length album (produced at Basick records) is fast approaching completion.

Already on tour with this fresh material, and in constant liaison with their fan base, Aliases show an enthusiasm that will doubtlessly ensure a prolific reputation in the upcoming years.

Structures

Hailing from Toronto Canada, this energetic five piece released their debut EP, All Of The Above in 2010. Since then they have remained heavily on the road, touring with bands such as Periphery and Misery Signals.

Making the most of their ensuing success, 2011 has the potential to be a highly successful year for these newcomers. And as their EP displays, they have much to give to the world of progressive deathcore metal.

Though embedded in a style done by many, songs such as Still Waters show fleeting glimpses of something far more unique. Should they decide in future to branch into their own, All of the Above demonstrates that they certainly possess the imagination and the talent to do so.

Hydrodjent

Brainchild of Indian guitar ace, Keshav Dhar, this yet to be signed project has been floating around the likes of You Tube and My Space since 2008. With drums and bass programmed and mixed solely by Keshav himself, this musical powerhouse is a heart pounding contribution to the poly-rhythmic low-end sub-genre of metal (known by name as ‘Djent’) rising in popularity over recent years.

Pending the arrival of a competent vocalist as well as a flesh and blood drummer and bass player, Hydrodjent has sustained it’s underground existence, unveiling a brand new track most recently last August. With a CD release set for this coming March, 2011 may hopefully be the year that this musically stunning brand name finally takes form.
